Sow Bugs
Sow bugs and pill bugs are very common in damp places around the yard and are considered a nuisance by gardeners and householders. The pill bugs are so called because of their habit of rolling up into a tight ball when disturbed. The sow bug is considerably larger than the common pill bug and has two prominent tail-like appendages. The sow bug is incapable of rolling itself into a ball. Both feed on decaying plant material.
Moist areas around and along the foundation of a structure make the survival of sow bug and pill bug possible. Elimination of excess moisture conditions and following Integrated Pest Management (IPM) protocol will eliminate these occasional invaders.
